Our Story
Made by dog people, for dog people.
We define what dog friendly truly means, then certify the places that live up to it. Because being allowed was never the same as being wanted.
A Letter From Our Founder
I have travelled the world with my dogs for decades, and for most of that time ‘pet-friendly’ meant almost nothing. A cleaning fee nobody mentioned, a weight limit that ruled my dog out, half the building she wasn’t allowed in. Allowed was never the same as welcome.
So I founded Roch to make dog friendly mean something. We wrote the Roch Dog Friendly Standard, the first of its kind, and we assess hotels against it the only way that counts: anonymously, as a guest travelling with a dog. Every hotel is graded from A+ to F, and no hotel can pay for its grade.
Today more than 3,000 hotels across 56 countries carry a Roch rank. Whatever the brochure says, you will know before you book whether your dog will be genuinely welcome, or merely allowed. That is my promise, and it is the whole reason Roch exists.
Our Founding Manifesto
Dignity and Integrity,
for Every Dog and Every Journey.
Dignity
Your dog treated like a guest who was expected, not a problem to manage. Real warmth at the desk, and real run of the spaces you are paying to enjoy.
Integrity
What the booking page promises is what you get at the door. No surprise fees, no quiet exceptions, no small print to unravel at check in.
Trust
When a hotel carries the Roch mark, you can trust it. We have done the checking, so you book with confidence that your dog is genuinely welcome.

What We Do
The independent body behind the Dog Friendly Standard.
Roch is the independent standards and certification body for dog friendly hospitality, residences and workplaces. We define what dog friendly actually means, publish it openly, then assess, certify and rank the places that meet it, so businesses can prove it and dog owners can trust it.
Hospitality
The standard for hotels and the wider hospitality world, from the front desk to the bar.
The Hospitality Standard → 02Residences
The standard for homes and residential buildings where dogs actually live.
The Residential Standard → 03Workplace
The standard for offices and places of work that welcome dogs through the door.
