Fairmont Empress makes a genuine effort to welcome dogs, with access to the terrace and patio areas as well as a garden that dogs may use, and green spaces and parks nearby for walks. In the room, dogs are provided with a proper bed and real food and water bowls, along with free treats as a welcoming touch. Dogs stay free of charge, the hotel's pet policy is published openly, and most rooms in the hotel are dog friendly. There is no weight or size limit on dogs, and up to two dogs are permitted per room, making it a workable choice for owners with more than one dog.
Set against these positives are some real restrictions. A refundable damage deposit of $100.00 per day is charged, which adds a notable cost for longer stays. Dogs are not welcome in the bar, restaurant or lounge, so indoor access is limited to guest rooms and outdoor spaces only.
