Hirado Kaijyo Hotel Dog Friendly Review

Hirado Kaijyo Hotel is not certified, for one specific reason: the hotel told us dogs do not stay free, but it has never told us what its dog fee actually is. A dog owner cannot budget for a charge nobody will name, and until the fee is stated the rank is capped at F.

The welcome itself has real strengths. Dogs are welcome out on the terrace and in the garden, there are green spaces nearby for walks, and dogs may be left alone in the room, which many hotels refuse. Real food and water bowls are provided, the pet policy is published, there is no weight or size limit, no damage deposit, and up to two dogs may share a room. For a seaside hotel in Hirado that is a solid foundation.

The gaps are the indoor life and the extras. Dogs cannot join you in the bar, the restaurant or the lounge, only some rooms are dog friendly, and there is no dog bed, no wash area, no treats and no poop bags, so bring your own kit.

Name the fee and this hotel certifies. As it stands, the one number a dog owner needs is the one number missing.

This hotel has been evaluated, ranked and reviewed using the Roch Standard, the world’s first dog friendly standard for the hotel industry. We gathered data directly from the hotel and benchmarked it against thousands of other hotels to accurately and fairly derive its rank. Give us feedback on this review by clicking here.
