Spirit Ridge holds a disappointing D Roch Rank. That grade undersells how much there is here for the dog itself. The resort has a fully fenced off-leash dog park, small but open around the clock, and dogs are welcome to walk on the lead around the grounds and along the vineyard paths. There is no weight or size restriction, and up to two dogs may stay in each accommodation.
Every dog receives a toy, poop bags and a small treat, and the resort can provide a dog bed as well. You may leave your dog alone in the accommodation for a short period, such as while you have dinner. The front desk will help you find a local groomer, and it gave us details of an emergency veterinary hospital in Kelowna. The fee is $30 per night, and the resort generally also collects a damage deposit of $100 per night, so the cost of a week mounts up.
The restrictions are where it falls down. Dog friendly accommodation is very limited, confined to certain one-bedroom, two-bedroom and villa options, and dogs are not permitted in the bar, the lounge, the restaurants or the winery areas. Your dog is welcome on the terrace or patio of your own accommodation, but that is as far as it goes. There is no dog wash, no dog walking or sitting service, and no dog food on sale. This suits an owner of any size of dog who wants outdoor space and will eat in or leave the dog for dinner. Anyone who wants their dog with them at the bar or the table should look elsewhere.
