The Cape Dog Friendly Review

The Cape, A Thompson Hotel earned a D Roch Rank. Dogs are welcome throughout the hotel's public areas and lounge, on the restaurant terraces, and around the pool deck, though they must be leashed and cannot go in the water. The spa wet areas and fitness centre are the only spaces off limits. The hotel provides a dog bed, food and water bowls, and a toy, and there is a dog food menu available on request. Cats are welcome to stay too, and the hotel makes regular donations of food and supplies to local dog and cat rescue charities.

There is no garden or dedicated dog space on-site, and no dog walking, sitting, or activities on offer. The hotel sits among desert and highway rather than parks, so for exercise the team points guests to the road down to the marina or the beach in front of the hotel, good for a walk but not for swimming. There is no vet on call, but the hotel will provide contacts for local vets in an emergency.

Now, let's talk fees. Expect a $100 deep cleaning fee per stay plus tax and service, along with a $100 damage deposit and a waiver to sign at check-in, with any damage billed to the card on file. On the plus side there is no weight limit at all, which is rare and welcome for larger breeds.
