The Whitby Hotel holds an outstanding A+ Roch Rank. Every room is dog friendly and dogs stay free, with no charge and no damage deposit. What sets it apart in Midtown is how much of the hotel your dog can share with you. Dogs are welcome in the bar, the restaurant, the lounge and on the terrace, so a drink or dinner does not mean leaving your dog upstairs.
Let the reservations team know you are bringing a dog and they will prepare the room, with a dog bed, food and water bowls and poop bags provided. Dog food can be arranged and added to your bill, and dog walking and dog sitting can be organised if you need them. There is no garden at the hotel, but Central Park is a five minute walk away and the hotel recommends it as the best place to walk a dog. You will be asked to sign a pet waiver at check-in.
The one real restriction is a weight limit of 40 lbs, although the hotel told us exceptions can be made for a well behaved dog, so it is worth asking if yours is over. How many dogs you can bring to one room depends on their size, so confirm that when you book. You may leave your dog alone in the room, but housekeeping will not service it while you are out. This suits an owner who wants a polished, central New York stay with a small or medium dog at their side from breakfast to the bar. Owners of very large dogs should confirm before they book.
