This trail heads through the Magnificent Mile north of the Downtown Loop east to the Navy Pier. This is a very popular location near the Chicago city center. Generally, this is one of the nicer sections to see Chicago architectures along the river, lake, and marinas. The trail tends to get crowded during weekends, evenings, and nights especially in the summer and fall. There are plenty of access points along the route, and even a few beaches. There is a metro track above the walk to the west side, so it can get quite noisy towards that side.

After the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 decimated much of Lincoln Park, the residents got to work rebuilding. Today, Lincoln Park is a fabulous display of Victorian architecture. Visitors to the park can also take advantage of numerous free attractions such as the Lincoln Park Zoo, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Lincoln Park Conservatory, and Alfred Caldwell Lilly Pool.
