Cavallo Point Dog Friendly Review
Cavallo Point holds an excellent A Roch Rank, and it is easy to see why. Every room here is dog friendly, with no weight or size restriction and space for up to two dogs per room. Set within the Golden Gate National Recreational Area, the hotel offers numerous dog walking opportunities right on its doorstep, including the Parade Ground, the large field that features in so many photographs of the property. A trail map is available from the front desk on request, making it simple to plan your walks from the moment you arrive. Dogs are welcome to sit with you outside at the restaurants and to join you in the lobby, so your companion is genuinely part of the stay rather than hidden away.
In the room your dog will find a proper pet bed and real food and water bowls waiting. A welcome gift of treats, chew items and dog waste bags is a thoughtful touch that signals the hotel's commitment to four legged guests. Should your dog fancy something to eat and you have not brought supplies, there is a dog menu available. The Parade Ground lawn area in front of the lodge is accessible to dogs on lead, in keeping with National Park Service rules, giving you a green space without needing to leave the grounds. There is no damage deposit, and the dog fee is $150 per room per stay, which feels fair given the setting, the in-room provisions and the level of welcome.
There is one significant restriction to be aware of: dogs may not be left alone in the room at any time, so every outing must include your dog or another member of your party to stay behind. The hotel does not provide a dog wash or shower area, does not offer a dog walking service, and cannot arrange a dog sitter or groomer, so you will need to be entirely self-sufficient on those fronts. Dogs are not allowed in the bar. That said, Cavallo Point suits confident, active owners who want their dog beside them throughout the day, whether on a coastal trail or dining al fresco. If you need to leave your dog in the room while you explore alone, you should look elsewhere.
