Fairmont Vancouver Airport offers a genuinely welcoming start for dog owners, with a dedicated dog space set aside on site and green spaces and parks nearby for walks. Guests are given guidance on local walking routes, and a dog bed is provided in the room. The hotel's pet policy is public, most rooms are dog friendly, and there is no weight or size limit on the dogs allowed to stay. Up to two dogs can share a room, and the hotel also welcomes cats, showing a broadly accommodating approach to travelling pets.

Set against this, the practical extras that make a stay easy for dog owners are largely missing. A refundable damage deposit of $100 per night is charged, which adds a notable upfront cost. Dogs are not welcomed in the bar, restaurant, terrace or lounge, so owners cannot bring their dog along to communal dining or social areas. There is no garden or dedicated outdoor dog space beyond the general dog area, and dogs may not be left alone in the room, limiting flexibility for owners who need to step out. The hotel does not provide real food or water bowls, and there is no dog-walking or dog-sitting service, nor poop bags supplied, leaving guests to arrange these essentials themselves.
