Omni Shoreham Hotel Dog Friendly Review

Omni Shoreham Hotel holds a failing F Roch Rank, which is a disappointing mark for a property that otherwise gets some of the basics right for travelling with a dog. Most of the rooms here are open to canine guests, so you are unlikely to be squeezed into a single designated wing, and if you happen to be travelling with a cat too, that is welcomed as well. For an owner simply wanting a bed that accepts their companion without a fuss over which room type they have booked, that flexibility counts for something, even if the overall grading suggests the hotel has not built much of a dog friendly experience around it.

Day to day, the practicalities are straightforward but not generous. There is a $150 fee for the stay, and against that you are also asked for a refundable damage deposit of $100, which only comes back to you if the room is left undamaged, so it is worth factoring both sums into your budget before you arrive. Your dog cannot be left alone in the room, which means your days have to be planned around someone always being present, rather than popping out for a few hours with the dog resting behind. Up to two dogs are permitted per room, provided each one stays under the 25 lbs weight limit, so a single larger dog or a pair of medium dogs sharing a room will not be accommodated here.

The weight limit of 25 lbs is the biggest practical hurdle, ruling this hotel out entirely for owners of larger breeds, and the deposit and fee together make for a fairly steep outlay given how little else is confirmed to come with them. There is no dog bed, no bowls, no treats, no toys, and no dog-walking or dog-sitting service, so you will need to bring your own kit and manage exercise and company yourself. Dogs are not welcomed into the bar, restaurant, terrace, or lounge, and there is no dedicated dog space or wash area, so your stay will be largely room based outside of whatever you arrange independently. This hotel suits an owner with a small, well behaved dog under the weight limit who is happy to self-sufficiently manage walks, feeding and company, and who will never need to leave the room empty. Owners of larger dogs, or anyone wanting on-site amenities and services, should look elsewhere.
