Portola Hotel & Spa Dog Friendly Review
Portola Hotel & Spa is not certified. Assessed against the Roch Dog Friendly Standard, it missed one of our minimum requirements: dogs are not welcome in the bar or the lounge. That caps the rank at F.
Most rooms welcome dogs, with up to two dogs to a room, and dogs are welcome in the restaurant and the terrace, so your dog stays at your side rather than waiting upstairs. There is no weight limit, so a big dog is treated the same as a small one. The hotel provides a dog bed, dog food is sold on site, and dog sitting and grooming can be arranged. An emergency vet number is kept at the desk and staff can point you to the local walking routes. The hotel also runs dog friendly activities.
The dog fee is $50 plus taxes, per night. No treats, toys or poo bags are provided, there is no garden or dedicated dog space on site, there is no dog walking service, dogs cannot be left alone in the room, and staff have not had formal training for canine guests. Dogs are kept out of the bar and the lounge, and that is what keeps this hotel out of certification.
