The Royal Oak Dog Friendly Review
The Royal Oak is not certified. Assessed against the Roch Dog Friendly Standard, it missed one of our minimum requirements: dogs are not provided with food and water bowls. That caps the rank at F.
Most rooms welcome dogs, with up to two dogs to a room, dogs are welcome in the bar, the restaurant, the lounge and the garden, so you are not shut away at mealtimes, and there is a dedicated dog space on site. There is no weight limit, so a big dog is treated the same as a small one, and dogs can be left alone in the room. Green spaces and parks are close by, with staff on hand to point you to the good walks.
The dog fee is £15 a week. No dog bed, treats, toys or poo bags are provided, there is no dog walking or sitting service, and staff have not had formal training for canine guests. Pack a set of bowls and this is a comfortable stay for a dog, and certification needs only that gap closed.
