West Dyke Trail's flat terrain that follows alongside the ocean makes it popular with walkers, joggers, and cyclists. The route is a great place to watch the sunset. The trail itself is gravel Trail and is very easy, straight and wide, which is great for people of all ages/skill levels and bringing the family for a picnic (there are benches). Consider bringing sun protectant on hot days as there is little to no shade.

Queen Elizabeth Park's peaceful gardens are great place to spend an afternoon. In the middle of the city and easily accessible (and free), the park offers paved paths, hills, ponds, and lots of flowers. It's often a bit busy, but it is typically meticulously maintained with beautiful photo opportunities everywhere. You can see the mountains from the lookout by the Bloedel Conservatory. There is also an off leash dog park.

On especially windy days, bring extra layers and/or hooded jackets to cover your ears. Solid shoes would be best suited on this stone path.
