The species is listed as a vulnerable species and there are harsh penalties that apply for harming their habitat, so take care in the area and tread lightly.

A nice trail from Studley Park to Chandler Highway following Yarra Boulevard. Parking can be found at the Studley Park Picnic Area at the end of Boat House Road. The route begins from Studley Park Road shortly after Johnston Street Bridge. The path sticks to Yarra Boulevard mirroring the meandering turns of Yarra River. This trail is used by a lot of cyclists so be cautious of your surroundings and stick to the left of the path.
