Tylissos Archaeological Site - Stroumpoula Plateau - Voulismeno Aloni (Αρχαιολογικός Χώρος Τύλισου - Οροπέδιο Στρούμπουλα - Βουλισμένο Αλώνι) A nice course west of the city of Heraklion, which starts from the archaeological site of Tylissos. There, the ruins of three small Minoan palaces with impressive architecture, water supply and sewage systems have been excavated. The route heads northwest, initially through the plain, and then uphill towards the hilly area and the Stroumboula Plateau....

Voulismeno Aloni - Keris Forest (Βουλισμένο Αλώνι - Δάσος Κέρης) A nice route that starts from the karstic depression of Voulismeno Aloni and ascends the dirt road to the hill of Keris, where extensive reforestations has been carried out. The area is ideal for family excursions and cycling trips. The view to the Almyros gorge and springs, the Ammoudara beach and the city of Heraklion is panoramic and striking.

Ano Kalesa - Agia Paraskevi chapel (Άνω Καλέσα - ξωκλήσι Αγία Παρασκευή) The course starts from the village of Ano Kalesa and heads south along the rural area and the ridge of the elongated hill. The route circles part of the gully and climbs towards the old head village of Petrokefalos, at the top of the hill. From there it returns north back to the starting point. Beautiful views of the olive groves which cover a very large part of the area.

Almiros Gorge (Φαράγγι Αλμυρού) The lovely course through the Almyros gorge starts from the dirt road, very close to the Almyros springs, which are located on the eastern edge of the Keris hill. The route follows the dirt road that enters the gorge, crossing it entirely. In the last part, the route climbs up the slope of the Keris hill and reaches the national road.

Stroumpoulas Plateau - Timios Stavros Summit (Οροπέδιο Στρούμπουλα - Κορυφή Τίμιος Σταυρός) From Stroumpoulas Plateau, west of the Heraklion city, the beautiful route climbs up to the Stroumpoulas Hill in the northwest. It initially follows a dirt road and then continues intensively along a well-marked path to the Timios Stavros Summit of the rocky limestone hill. There is the chapel of Timios Stavros, whose history is lost back in the centuries. Return to the starting point by the same road.
