This route loops around Alta Lake using a variety of urban trails in the area. There's a varying mix of scenery, from paved flat walking path, to views through the nearby neighbourhood, to Blueberry Trail in the woods along the lake on the east side. Russet Lake via Singing Pass is a popular backpacking spot, but is great for a challenging hike as well. The winter conditions can be quite harsh and are only recommended for experienced hikers. At the top you'll get to see the scenic views of Castle Towers, Black Tusk, and the rest of Garibaldi. Russet Lake itself is wonderful, with views of the Spearhead Range and Fissile. Singing pass is a pleasant hike and is a gradual incline all the way up. Once you hit the top the views of the surrounding mountain ranges are incredible. Even in winter, snowshoeing this trail is a great way to enjoy the park. There are lots of horse flies and mosquitos in the area, so bringing insect repellent is recommended.

Additional parking can now be found at Whistler Interpretive Forest’s main parking lot located on Cheakamus Lake Road just off Highway 99. Relaxing, a family-friendly trail that would be a good choice for beginners.
