A beautiful excursion from Matera to the Belvedere Murgia Timone in the Murgia Materana Park. The hike offers some of the best views of the city, as well as crossing the suspension bridge over the ravine and seeing some incredible rock churches. Note: The trail can be very busy on public holidays.

This beautiful path leads up to the Rupestrian Churches of the Murgia Timone Park and the Sassi di Matera, typical and well-preserved examples of Mediterranean rock settlements. A beautiful excursion that takes place in a loop and includes views of Matera and a visit to the Church of San Falcione. The Murgia National Park is also known as the Regional Archaeological Historical Natural Park of the Stones of Matera and is on the UNESCO World Heritage list, together with the Sassi of Matera. The route passes by several Churches and houses built in stones which allow the visitor to immerse themselves in history.
