This is a great place near the city to get a great workout in. Expect an elevated heart rate thanks to elevation gain with lots of stairs! Parts of the trail are narrow and uneven so watch your footing and make space for fellow hikers. There are some great views over the hilltop in some places. On the weekends, there is a fee to enter the trail.

This is a shaded and lovely walk beginning from Trailhead Neighborhood Park. The beginning is along a paved path for the first quarter mile or so and then turns to a natural dirt surface throughout the trail. There is a decent little climb halfway through the trail that makes for an interesting change of terrain.

This is a short and simple loop around Northwest Balcones Park and makes for a great quick hike in the surrounding woodland area. The trail can be hard to find at some points, and it is suggested to download the route ahead of time to navigate. This trail is mostly in the shade which makes for a great summer time hike.

Little Fern Trail is a segment off of the River Place Panther Hollow Trail. This is a well-maintained trail that is suitable for the whole family to enjoy a day in the nature preserve. Hike through a shaded forest and past scenic bodies of water to the end of the trail. To extend this route, continue along the Canyon Trail which heads north at the split.
