This is a short loop in a small park that features staircases leading to beautiful views of the surrounding area. There is not much shade in this area and it is exposed to the sun, therefore it is suggested to bring sun protection. Parking is located in a small parking lot of Mt Bonnell Road and the trailhead starts from there.

This is a lovely trail that travels along the 21-acre Mayfield Nature Preserve grounds. There is much to discover on the serene walking trails and wildlife habitat with free-roaming peacocks. There is also a tour of the gardens and estate on-site for a fee. The Mayfield-Gutsch Estate is a historic home and park grounds in west Austin, Texas near the shores of Lake Austin. Originally built in the 1870s, the cottage was purchased by former Texas Secretary of State Allison Mayfield in 1909.

This is a family-friendly trail with an abundance of shade making it a great choice for a hot summer day. The path takes a loop through old-growth trees and some beautiful Sable Palm trees. There is a creek that visitors will cross several times, but it is fairly shallow and there are rocks to help navigate across.
