This is one of many routes one can take in Onion Creek Metropolitan Park. There are other trails in this extensive trail network for those looking to extend their hike and visit less-frequented areas. There is a mix of sun and shade along the route, with fields of cacti and pleasantly forested sections. The area by the creek is peaceful and makes for a great relaxing stop.

This is a pretty hike alongside the creek with plenty of tree cover as the trail winds through a beautiful forested area. There are a couple of shallow creek crossings but you can avoid getting wet with stepping stones across the way. The trail may become muddy after heavy rainfall and waterproof shoes are advised during those times.

This is a quiet preserve near downtown Austin that is great for a short nature walk and exploring the area. Dogs are not allowed in the nature preserve. This route features a quick loop through a historic natural rock formation that has been used as shelter by Native Americans in the area. There are scenic wooden bridges along the path that crosses over the creeks below. This is a family-friendly trail that has something for everyone to enjoy in the area.

Cyclists, joggers, and hikers share this long paved loop around the park as it winds through the shady banks of Onion Creek and past more ruins from the homestead.
