Sneath Lane Trail is the easiest hiking and biking grade up to the crest of Sweeney Ridge. From the ridgetop go south to visit the Portola Discovery Site, or north to the former Radar Control Site for Nike Site SF-51. Nike ground-to-air missile sites protected American Cities from the Soviet Bomber threat during the Cold War from 1955-1974.

Explores the wonders of Sweeney Ridge. The Ridge trail offers excellent views of the Pacific Ocean and the San Andreas Reservoir. Of the three different approaches to Sweeney Ridge, the gently ascending paved trail from Sneath Lane is the most forgiving. You may have to share the trail with an occasional cyclist, but you'll appreciated the views over the eastern side of the peninsula as you climb including the long expanse of San Andreas Lake.
