Begin on the red trail and quickly detour onto the blue trail through a forest of spruce and pine. Eventually blue meets a trail junction with yellow which passes by a marsh and some rocky outcroppings. Meet back up with the eastern half of the blue trail and look out onto a small inlet that is a part of Back Cove.

The eastern half of the trail follows the coast of Back Cove with salt marshes and rocky coastline sections. Dogs are not permitted in the sanctuary at any time.

This route includes all of the established trails in Hamilton Audubon Sanctuary combining the red, green, yellow, and blue trails. The trail leads through the forest, through open fields, and along the coast of Back Cove. The area is preserved for its birding opportunities, so even leashed dogs are not permitted to not disrupt wildlife.

There is also a dog park at the beginning of the trail. The trail does closely parallel US 1, so expect some road noise.
