This trailhead is open from dawn to dusk. Perhaps one of the toughest hikes in the San Fernando Valley, this trail can be used as a training course for harder hikes (such as Mt. Whitney or Cactus-to-Clouds). The sharp elevation gain is recommended only for experienced hikers. For those who endure the challenge, you will be rewarded with some of the best views in the valley. Be sure to bring plenty of water...and even more willpower.

This trip takes you up into the Verdugo mountains, past the Collapsed Graphite mine to a series of amazing viewpoints. You'll visit the Boundary Saddle, Relay Saddle, and Wildhos Saddle. This trail also crosses below Verdugo Peak, but does not go to the summit. It is a fire road hike for the majority of the trip, and generally not a technical trail. However, the elevation gain and steepness can certainly be a challenge!
