This trail crosses the mountainous terrain of the Cerklje hills. The first part of the trail follows a road and runs across forest and grassy slopes. The road was built after WWI, when this area was part of Italy. Next is the Franja partisan hospital, which played a crucial role during WWII and is well worth visiting. Finally, climb up the pastures and forest to Porezen. The overview list of all segments of the Red Trail can be found here: https://www.alltrails.com/lists/via-alpina-red-trail

This stage crosses the Lower Bohinj mountains of the Julian Alps, whose ridges are visible ahead. First go down the rather steep slope through the forest, then climb up the ridge again. The Kobla ski slopes can be seen descending into the valley below. Črna prst is famous for its varied Alpine flora and as a vantage point. It lies within the bounds of Triglav National Park.
