Blue marked trail from Natuurmonumenten through Huis ter Heide estate. It is a mixed forest, with pieces of coniferous and deciduous forests. During twilight you have a good chance of seeing a deer through the trees. And you pass a field where Scottish Highlanders graze. Many birds feel at home, including birds of prey and woodpeckers. The route also takes you to the beautiful white country house, built in 1864.

The hike leads through old coniferous and deciduous forests, through extensive fields and along fens, with the Moerven as the largest fen. The nature reserve is popular with bird watchers, the fens are filled with frogs and dragonflies and you come face to face with Scottish Highlanders. A varied nature walk that can be combined with the blue route, if you want to extend it.

This walking route largely follows the official red walking route in the Huis ter Heide nature reserve, but makes an extra detour to explore the fens in the south of the area. The walk goes around Moerven and Galgenven and along several small fens. The walking route mostly runs on forest paths and country roads. Highland cattle graze freely in the area, and especially at the fens you have many opportunities to see different birds. You have the opportunity to climb a watchtower and at the fens...
