Activities
Features
Although this trail is fairly short and has little elevation gain, it can be quite rugged, with many small hills and rocky and muddy sections. Where there is a washed out bridge, there are ladders and ropes provided to assist in getting across (not the most dog-friendly). The trail has some markers and is worth the trip during any time of the year.
Activities
Features
This is a beautiful trail, like an oasis in the middle of the city. The trail starts along the Whitemud Trail South and loops around to take the Aspen Drive pathway on the way back. It's a lovely meander through treed pathways and over bridges leading to a pretty steep uphill and then walk through Aspen Heights. There are beautiful views and some picnic benches along the way.
Activities
Features
This is a gorgeous trail to venture through Edmonton's river valley. It is quite a popular route, so expect lots of people jogging, walking, and puppies. This hike is suitable for all activity levels, but during winter, you should bring snowshoes or crampons to make this a good activity. There is a lot of urban wildlife, like chickadees and friendly squirrels. Locals highly recommend this trail, thanks to its proximity to the city. Many of the parking lots will be full on weekends.
Activities
Features
This route follows some of the best more natural trails within the Edmonton area. There are some nice inclines and descents, all while the trails are well-maintained and gravel based. The area is quite busy on weekends, and is a favourite place for winter snowshoeing.
