This family-friendly loop follows Clear Creek past Prospect, Tabor, and West Lakes. It is paved on the north side of the river for bicycles and unpaved for most of the southern portion of the river for foot traffic only. There are many access points for Clear Creek Trail, so you don't necessarily need to start at the trailhead shown on this page. Beautiful and easy lake loop with nice mountain views. The Wildlife Sanctuary area and trail around Kestrel Pond to the northwest closes March 1st annually to allow for nesting. This loop does not close for the wildlife closure. Parking is not a problem with a large parking lot on the south side and there are nice bathrooms, a couple of gazebos, and picnic tables. This route starts off briefly on Fairmont Canal Trail, then does a large loop on Mesa Top Trail, Tilting Mesa Trail, and North Table Loop Trail, on North Table Mountain. Due to seasonal closures, the actual distance of this route may vary, so please be prepared for a longer/shorter hike. You should also consider using AllTrails Pro for offline map-vieiwing or bring a separate GPS device, especially if you are not familiar with this area.
