EuroVelo routes are long-distance cycling routes that pass through European countries. An EuroVelo route must be at least 1000 kilometers long and run through at least two different countries. EuroVelo 10 is called the Baltic Sea Cycle, and it runs from the border of Finland and Russia along the shores of the Baltic Sea to the border of Estonia and Russia. There are many wonderful landscapes between Kokkola and Pyhäjoki. The route starts from the Event Park and goes along Pohjanlahdentie to Ruotaslontie. The route goes through both Lohtaja and Himinka, and also through Kalajoki. The route ends in Pyhäjoki at the municipal hall. You can easily find several services along the way.

To the north of Kokkola is Trullevinniemi, a narrow headland about five kilometers long. Postglacial land uplift has shaped the area's coastal meadows and flat lakes, and there is also a pebble field in the area. Seals, flying squirrels, and hedgehogs enjoy Trullevi. A hiking trail starts from Roskaruka that goes to the tip of the cape, all the way to Trullevinnokka. The route is a cross country ski track in winter.

The Old Kalle's Trail runs through Kokkola's Santahaka-Harrinniemi outdoor recreation area. Along the route there are pine barrens, lusher spruce groves, and in Harriniemi open sands and dunes and a bird tower. The route is flat and signposted. In summer, the route can be traveled on foot or by bike, is a groomed cross country ski trail in winter.

On the west side of Kokkola is the Santahaka-Harriniemi outdoor recreation area, which is mostly easy-to-navigate, pine-dominated ridge terrain. There are fitness trails in the area that are in use all year round. Six kilometers of the routes are illuminated, and in winter the route is a maintained ski track. The fitness route also has connections to Harriniemi and Villa Elba.
