It is a well-maintained path and has interesting historical markets along the way. There are patches of shade along the way which is a relief during the hot Florida summers.

The majority of this route travels along a sandy trail, which passes by dunes and through scenic flatland ecosystems. The trail can become muddy during wet conditions and waterproof shoes are recommended.

While this trail is primarily used for mountain biking, hiking is also allowed but there is directional signage for hiking and biking. The route is mostly shaded with a trail surface of hard-packed dirt and sand. Traveling next to the river, there are many opportunities to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings.
