A very nice walk for the whole family in this unique part of the province of West Flanders. You will find many routes here for walking and cycling, many of these routes can be combined for an optimal experience. These specific walking routes take you along the historic villages of Fintele and Pollinkhove, located on the Yser and the Grote Beverdijkvaart.

The IJzerbroeken forms the border between the polders and loam region that lies further inland. This water-rich landscape is ideal for a discovery in the Westhoek. Normally the walk starts from the charming village of Pollinkhove, a part of Lo-Reninge, but this route instead starts in Fintele where the Lovaart flows into the Yser. This walk takes the user into the surroundings of the village. Parking at the starting point is easy, and the start of the route is easily accessible by car.

Half of the GR 130 IJzer runs through the Westhoek region of French Flanders and half through West Flanders (Bachten de Kupe). It is a smooth hike over a flat and very open landscape. The GR 130 Yser branches off from the GR 128 in Buysscheure and does not slavishly follow the course of the fledgling river.
