Departing from Monaco train station, this hike takes you to the heights of the Principality of Monaco. This route passes through the small town of La Turbie, known for its Trophée des Alpes, a 35-meter-high monument, built by the Romans in honor of Emperor Augustus. You will also go to the top of Tête de Chien, a summit at 550 meters, from where you will have a superb viewpoint.

Along the way, you will pass through Monaco-Ville, which is the oldest part of the country where political institutions are located. This district is also called "Le Rocher". You will also pass through the Port Hercule in Monaco and the artificial swimming area next to it.

This is a very scenic route above Cap d'Ail and Monaco combining two hikes: 1) Tête de Chien above Cap d'Ail with beautiful scenic views on the coast west (Towards Nice) and east (Monaco). 2) The Sentier Littoral of Cap d'Ail, easy and leisure walk along the sea from Monaco to Cap d'Ail. You can choose to do the whole hike or just portions of the hike. If can start the hike about half way through for just the Tête de Chien portion or just follow along the coast for the Sentier Littoral...

Hike on the coastal path of Cap-d-Ail, a pretty town next to the principality of Monaco, in the Alpes-Maritimes department. Along the way, you will have very beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea, and you will pass by the marina of Cap d'Ail, as well as Marquet beach, the most popular beach in the city.
