The Stanford Dish loop is a popular route for Stanford University students as well as Silicon Valley professionals. The area is named after the large radio telescope that can not be missed. The Baylands Nature Preserve, said to be the largest salt marsh preserve on the Bay, encompasses nearly 2,000 acres protected for wildlife, including the endangered clapper rail and salt marsh harvest mouse. Pearson Arastradero Preserve has 10 miles of trails and is located in Palo Alto, California. The loop trail offers great birding opportunities and the trails are used by hikers, cyclists and equestrians. Some trails are closed seasonally due to wet conditions.
