Surrounded by suburbia, Fall Run is nestled in a wooded ravine carved by the stream by the same name. Wooden bridges cross the stream several times and a set of wooden stairs lead you from the base to the top of the 30-foot waterfall just north of the trail mid-point. Primarily utilized as a long-distance cycling route between Pittsburgh, PA and Cumberland, MD, the G.A.P. (as it is called) connects with the Historic 184.5 mile C&O canal towpath which terminates in Georgetown, Washington D.C. A majority of the GAP trail is located on nearly level abandoned rail beds, crushed limestone, and asphalt surfaces.
