This route begins at the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog, and begins along the Hawk Ridge Trail traveling westwards. There are several trail connections from here that circle the Greensfelder Recreation Complex until connecting with the Owl Creek Trail. There is a mix of surfaces along the way and a variety of environments to explore.

Hawk Ridge trail is a 4 mile loop trail that follows the perimeter of the park and is a good mix of woodlands and meadows. Some of the highlights are several 200-300 year old trees along the route. Most of the champion trees are marked with plaques describing their species and age. If hiking in the afternoon to early evening you are almost guaranteed to pass a few deer along the way.
