Agios Nikolaos - Lasithi Plateau Circular Route (Κυκλική πορεία από τον Άγιο Νικόλαο στο Οροπέδιο Λασιθίου) Already 20 years ago, Crete was considered an insider tip for travel eagles. Nothing has changed to this day. The cycling trip boom has not yet reached Greece's largest island - much to the delight of individual cyclists, who prefer to explore the island in spring and autumn. Krousta Forest (Δάσος του Κρούστα) This long route starts south of Agios Nikolaos, in Crete, and more specifically from Karavostasi beach. It goes west, going up this whole semi-mountainous and mountainous area, following at higher altitudes a part of the European Path E4. Minoan Path and the Kritsa Gorge (Μινωικό Μονοπάτι στο Φαράγγι Κριτσάς) The route starts outside the Kritsa settlement and heads northwest to enter the Kritsa Gorge. After crossing it, the route follows the so-called Minoan Path in order to return south, along a path outside the gorge, to the starting point. A very beautiful course which combines the beauty of crossing a relatively easy gorge and the history of the place.

Kritsa Gorge (Φαράγγι Κριτσάς) This is an accessible gorge which starts from the village of Kritsas and follows the riverbed of the homonymous stream, next to the stone bridge, towards the small and beautiful settlement of Tapes. It is an impressive gorge with high walls and sometimes very narrow passages - in one case they reach 1.5m wide. After heavy rains, it would be a good idea not to cross if you don't want to get wet.
