A challenging but beautiful excursion for the landscapes crossing the Marmolada. The route starts from the Alba di Canazei funicular station, which can be reached by car or by cable car from Col dei Rossi. From here begins the path that runs along the Contrin river to reach the Contrin Refuge of the same name (2016m). Before continuing the crossing it is possible to visit the Alpini Chapel. Fantastic high mountain hike in Val Contrin with spectacular views of the Marmolada. It starts in Alba near Canazei and leads along the Contrin stream, passing the Baita Locia de Contrin and the Baita Cianci until you reach the Contrin Hut (2016m). Continue uphill on a slightly more rocky path that leads to Rifugio Passo di S. Nicolò (2340m). The way back leads over the Passo di San Nicolò (2338m) and passing the Baita Locia de Contrin again.

Via Ferrata dei Finanzieri is a sneaky difficult via ferrata that is quite exposed, but rewarding. It climbs "Colac" and at the summit you'll find a great view of Marmolada, the highest peak in the Italian Dolomites. From the Belvedere mountain station (accessible with the intermediate Pecol from Canazei) to the Lupo Bianco hotel. PROS: the only panorama upstream of the Belvedere cable car is worth the entire walk. Fantastic position to see the Marmolada and the Fedaia lake. Obviously there are excellent views of all the other groups in the area (Sella, Monzoni, Catinaccio, Sassopiatto and Sassolungo) CONS: Great difference in height and it is always downhill (not great on the knees).
