This is an easy trail, great for the whole family and a good alternative to the busy Grassi Lakes Trail. It's not hard but there are definitely some inclines here and there. The hoodoos are probably the coolest part, but you could actually miss them if you’re distracted by the graveyard. There are lots of side trails in this trail network so it is easy to get off-route. During winter, hikers recommend...

The hike up is steep and involves some serious scrambling. It is recommended to avoid tackling this trail alone, and to equip yourself with spikes, poles, plenty of water, and weather-appropriate attire. The trail is overall clearly marked, however, it can be a bit confusing to stay on track through some sections (mostly near the summit) and it’s a good idea to download a map. The trail reaches the treeline about halfway to the summit to meet the ridge at an intersection with the Grotto...
