One of the best hiking routes in Montalcino is the ring of the Abbey of Sant'Antimo (Anello di Sant'Antimo). A ring walk in the great scenery of the shady woods and Brunello vineyards that surround Castelnuovo dell'Abate. You walk on dirt roads, among vineyards and woods, up to the small church of Villa a Tolli, and then return to the Abbey of Sant'Antimo. The route proceeds in the midst of large wineries: the territory of Castelnuovo dell'Abate includes some of the main Brunello estates such...

A beautiful trail in the Val d'Orcia, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, among olive groves and Brunello vineyards. The route starts from the village of Sant'Angelo in Colle, near the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, and reaches the Abbey of Sant'Antimo. The itinerary takes place on well-maintained and signposted paths, surrounded by the typical picturesque Tuscan landscape that transmits peace. We recommend visiting the Abbey of Sant'Antimo, a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture.

From the Rocca di Montalcino this path leads along dirt roads, through vineyards and woods to the small parish church of Villa a Tolli, and further on to the famous Romanesque Abbey of Sant'Antimo. You will find yourself in the middle of some great wineries: Poggio di Sotto, Ciacci Piccolomini and Uccelliera Di Cortonesi Andrea. The Abbey of Sant'Antimo, in a postcard setting, about 26 km north of Podere Santa Pia, and 10 km south of Montalcino, dates back to the 12th century and is the most...

A pleasant excursion starting from Montalcino. The first half of the route takes place along deserted streets and paths, all well signposted. The second half is a bit more shaded in the forest paths, but it is a bit more hilly. Montalcino and Bagno Vignoni are two wonderful cities, I recommend staying in both and finding many hotels and restaurants. But incredibly I didn't see a soul during the whole journey, amazing! A tip: bring plenty of water and food, because there is nothing along the...
