This route begins near the Fremantle Surf Life Saving Club where there are barbeques, picnic tables and spots to fill up your drink bottles. There is plenty of places to park along Leighton Beach Boulevard. Dogs are allowed off-leash on Leighton Beach, so expect to see lots of dogs playing in the water and on the sand.

This is a short walk along the lower part of the Swan River. You can start at either Bicton Baths (parking off Braunton or Phipps st) or Park near Henry Jeffery Oval on Jerrat St. There are riverside paths for much of the way and once you pass the limestone cliffs of Blackwall Reach you can follow the foreshore - especially at low tide. A pleasant walk along Port Beach in Fremantle. This beach is just 10 minutes from Fremantle City Centre and 30 minutes from Perth. The route heads north across the wide stretch of sand. This out and back route turns around at Leighton Beach heading back down Port Beach. The beach is patrolled and visitors are reminded to swim between the flags if they do choose to swim.
