Fitzroy Gardens is a lush open space in the heart of Melbourne just steps away from the CBD. The gardens offer a great place for afternoon picnics or morning jogs. There are a number of paths and trails through the area that can be pieced together into a few kilometres of walking or running. There is plenty of space for children to run and play here as well.

A popular family friendly trail located in the inner north of Melbourne, Victoria. This looped route begins and ends near the parking area at the end of Yarra Bank Circuit. This trail explores both sides of the Yarra River up to the Johnston Street Bridge and back again, passing through several different parks and reserves along the way.

This inner paved loop of the Carlton Gardens features giant Moreton Bay fig trees (Ficus macrophylla) that were a meeting and gathering place of the Wurundjeri people. This is one of the most popular routes within the gardens where you'll see some of Melbourne's mixed urban wildlife including ducks, skateboarders and possums. A great loop of the ever popular Abbotsford convent taking you past the Collingwood Children's Farm, past the paddocks of sheep and horses, great for the kids. Offering glimpses of the Yarra River as you make your way along the path. This is a short walk but has endless possibilities to extend and continue along the Yarra either up or down stream and amenities can be found in the convent grounds including cafes, restaurants and the famed Lentil As Anything.

A decent length walk located in east Melbourne, Victoria. This point to point trail begins from the parking area at the Abbotssford Convent. From here you'll jump on the Main Yarra Trail which will take you down to the shores of the Yarra River. Enjoy making your way alongside the river, passing many different reserves along the way until you reach The Terrace at the Royal Botanic Gardens - the end point of this trail.
