Hultsfred is mentioned in 1320 as Huluszrydh, clearing by Lake Hulingen. The name was developed into Hulingsryd and from there came the pronunciation form Hullsre which later became Hultsfred. Hammarsjöleden starts at Kalvkätte garden with a large selection of perennial flower beds, an herb garden and a small rose garden. You walk on alternating roads of paths and major gravel roads towards Stora Hammarsjön's leisure area. Through the Björnnäset nature reserve, you walk through sparse old pine forest in hilly terrain, you reach the final destination at Stora Hammarsjöleden and the bathing area.
