Unofficial cycle route from Amsterdam Sloterdijk through the greenery of the Lange Bretten and along the Zijkanaal. You cycle back along the Buitenliede and the lake Sloterplas.

Four different cycling routes have been set out around and through the Amsterdam harbor, the Westhaven, Stadhaven, Hemhaven and Ruigoord Route. This is the Ruigoord Route, the longest of the four routes and a special cycling route that leads to the artists' village of Ruigoord. You will also pass through the Geuzenbos and Spaarnwoude and with views over the North Sea Canal.

Discover the lesser known places of Amsterdam by bicycle with the harbor routes. Various cycling routes have been plotted from Amsterdam Sloterdijk train station, which allow you to get to know the most unique places in the city. With the Hemhaven route you cycle through the ports and you get to know more about the 750-year-old history of the Amsterdam harbor, and you get unique views over Zaandam.

The walk is not spectacular, but a must for people with an interest in architecture and post-war Amsterdam urban development. On the route you pass the museum that is dedicated to van Eesteren.
