Le Soleil Couchant

This loop allows you to discover the barthes of Monbardon. In Gascony, a barthe is an alluvial floodplain organized along a watercourse. Those of Monbardon constitute an island of nature surrounded by a strongly anthropized environment, the sector of Capbreton-Hossegor and its real estate pressure. The hiker will discover woods with more varied species than the surrounding pine forest and wet plains offering a haven of peace to water birds.

From the picnic area on the road to Bénesse, gain height and climb to the highest point at 64 m. Along a marked walking route of nearly 2 km, discover the local flora and fauna. Perched on one of the belvederes, contemplate the horizon, the Marais d'Orx and the 9 churches using the orientation tables. Small walk that takes you to the black pond, a body of water in a swampy forest in the municipality of Seignosse, which you access by a path on duckboards. The pond is in a nature reserve that bears its name. Along the way, you will find two pontoons, which will offer you beautiful views of the pond.

Hike in the wetlands of the Landes forest, which takes you to see three ponds in the municipalities of Seignosse and Soustons: the Etang de Hardy, the Etang Blanc and the Etang Noir. Etang Blanc and Etang de Hardy have been linked by the Puntaou bridge since 1867. Etang Noir is located in a nature reserve of the same name.

Charming walk on flat ground between pine forests and asparagus fields, south of the town of Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse. The walker will also be able to observe the moorland of heather, gorse and ferns. The loop alternates between pretty little secondary roads and sandy forest paths.
