Started at the top of the Gorge Trail. Crossing the creek and following South Rim Trail/FInger Lake/High Country Trail to the bottom of the Gorge Trail. Shortly after the reservoir the path can be very overgrown, this is where the route retraces itself for a bit heading towards Point Lookout. Enjoy the waterfall views before crossing back over to the north side of the gorge and back to the parking lot.

This trail covers the most popular sights at Watkins Glen State Park. The trail begins by heading into the gorge with Glen Creek flowing through it. Hike down the gorge towards Point Lookout before climbing out and joining the south rim trail. Follow the South Rim/North Country Trail up up stream along the creek towards a lake. Dogs are not permitted on the gorge trail.

Upstate New York’s Watkins Glen State Park is one of the most popular parks in the Finger Lakes region. Within just two miles, the glen's stream features 19 waterfalls along its course which are viewable from the glen’s stone steps and dirt paths. This loop includes the Indian Trail, Finger Lakes Trail, and Gorge Trail which meanders past Glen Creek and through Cavern Cascade. Pick up the Indian Trail until you hit the bridge crossing the gorge. Then, hit the South Rim Trail to get back to the park entrance. Once you reach the road, there is plenty of shoulder along the road to walk safely. Dogs are not permitted on the Gorge Trail, so do not dip below the gorge rim if you have a four legged friend along.

This trail is gentle with some inclines and some steps along the way. It also has nice views of Glen Creek below. This is a popular trail, so an early start is recommended, especially on the weekends. The trail is very well maintained by the park with rock and wooden stairs in place to help hike up the steep sections.
