A local favourite, Matoppie is a fairly technical route that incorporates a good climb and contour riding, with a number of challenges thrown in – it's rocky and sandy in parts. But the views at the top are worth the effort. The initial gravel path climbs steadily, steepening after the first hairpin bend, where it also becomes rocky, before evening out. Some single track heads clockwise around Matoppie – where there are good views of the Berg River dam.
