Cavarchino B&B

A pleasant walk west of the village of Gaiole in Chianti. The route starts in the Piave di Santa Maria car park in Spaltenna and proceeds clockwise. You reach the village of Vertine by crossing the lands of Piazzole and Colto alle Bolli before returning to the starting point. The route offers a beautiful view of the Tuscan countryside and vineyards.

A circular route that starts from Gaiole in Chianti and proceeds counterclockwise passing by the Lake of Vinci. From here you proceed towards the hamlet of Barbischio, where you can visit the Tower and then proceed to Montegrossi. From here you can reach Badia Coltibuono and the Castle of San Donato in Perano. Some parts are beautiful and well marked, while others are challenging and covered with thorns.

L'Eroica is a cycling race conceived by Giancarlo Brocci and others, which has been held in the province of Siena since 1997 on the first Sunday in October. He wants to evoke the cycling of yesteryear, with routes on dirt roads and with bikes and vintage clothing. This route corresponds to the short one of 43 km, during the 2021 edition, starting from Gaiole in Chianti and crossing the typical vineyards of the area.

Along this route you can visit the Castle of San Donato in Perano, built during the 10th century on the hills where there were previously settlements from the Etruscan and Roman times. The castle, surrounded by walls covered in stone, was initially a military structure and then was transformed into a fortified farm in the second half of the sixteenth century after the fall of the Republic of Siena. Inside you will find a private chapel while outside a beautiful Italian garden.
