This trail includes several steep inclines and declines, with lots of rocks and uneven ground. Users recommend wearing proper hiking footwear, since some of these areas are technical and more challenging than the start of the trail. Additionally, this route is not marked, so downloading the offline trail maps is helpful to not get lost or off track. It is important to watch for the log bridge over the river early on, or users have reported ending up on the wrong side of Portuguese Pond.

Kings Quarry Trail is a short out and back trail located in the Purcell's Cove Backlands, near Halifax, Nova Scotia. The trail leads up a steep hill and into the backlands woods, along Purcell's Pond and up to a beautiful look off. The look off offers views of the Halifax Harbour and city below.
