Hof van Sellingen

Circular walk from the heart of Sellingen through the varied nature reserves to the south of the village. After leaving the village, the first thing that follows is a visit to the Sellinger Woods, located on the Ruiten Aa Canal. Round trip from the heart of Sellingen around the river Ruiten Aa. The winding river makes for beautiful walks. You also walk to the Ter Borg heathland, the largest heathland in Groningen, and to the Sellingerbossen, where you walk along the Ruiten Aa canal. The route runs a lot on wide, easy paths. It's a good running route, or an easy circular walk.

This is a walking route of the ANWB, starting from the village center of Sellingen. From here you can walk straight into the special scenic landscape of Westerwolde. Open areas filled with water, bushes, grasslands and hedgerows. An excellent habitat for birds, which you will discover via winding sand paths and deck paths.

The 14 Gehuchtenloop was a running event that took place annually in April. The event has not been organized since 2017, but the route can still be used as a challenging running route or a nice cycling route from Sellingen. The route takes you through the woods, around the river and along the canal Ruiten Aa.

Roots Magazine has mapped out several trails through the Westerwolde area, of which this is one. The walk from Sellingen is dominated by the Ruiten Aa and the associated flora and fauna. The river is surrounded by flowers and plants, which make an excellent home for butterflies. At the right times of the year, this is a real butterfly-filled walk along the water.
