Bayfront Marin House

This route follows a paved city path to Castillo de San Marcos National Monument and around the fort. The bay front of St. Augustine is beautiful and historic with many viewpoints along the way. Users recommend bringing sun protection as many sections of this trail are exposed. The trailhead provides access to water sports rental, a launch site, restrooms, outside showers, and a reservable pavilion. The trail is prone to flooding and is not recommended to travel during wet or high tide conditions.

The majority of this hike is along a sandy trail, which passes by dunes and through flatland ecosystems. This area serves as a bird sanctuary and there are many species that thrive in this coastal haven. If you walk this coast during the proper time of year, you may see nesting sea turtles along the shoreline.

This route takes the red trail to Murat's point which provides beautiful views of Moses Creek. This trail is intended to be multi-use and is shared by mountain bikers and hikers. This is an easy trail that is great for beginners that are new to hiking. The trail is well-marked and there are other trails in this network to connect to for those wishing to extend their hike. The trail can become muddy during wet conditions and waterproof shoes are recommended. There are many opportunities to observe wildlife along the way.
