RivierPark Maasvallei is a 137 kilometer long distance walk around the river Maas. A beautiful river valley walk, over dikes and through countless characteristic villages. The trail is well signposted in both directions. This beautiful stage takes you through the villages of Thorn, Wessem and Maasbracht. You cross canals, the cut-off Meuse and the Meuse itself via bridges and locks. You also walk along various lakes and harbors.

RivierPark Maasvallei is a beautiful long-distance walk which is entirely devoted to the river Maas. The entire route is 137 kilometers long. There are various pick-up and drop-off points with which you can shorten the route. The walk connects eleven Dutch and Belgian Meuse municipalities with each other through this impressive walk. You cross the Maas with ferries and bridges. There are plenty of accommodations along the way to spend the night and the route is signposted in both directions.

Hiking trail starting near Thorn. The village of Thorn is also known as the "white town", and you start the walk with a visit to the many monumental white-painted houses. You make a tour around the church, walk through the main street and visit the old water mill, the Kraekermolen. You leave Thorn on the banks of the Itterbeek, which flows direct on the Belgian border. Kessenich and the nearby nature reserve De Drie Eigen are a popular hiking area. The diverse landscape in this area was formed by a collaboration between Maas and man. Six different pole walks have been set out through the area. This is the red marked walking route, the longest of the pole walks, and a special one. This is the most water-rich walk, with which you walk right along the Meuse and to the End of Belgium. The walking route starts at the parking lot on the Venlosesteenweg in Kessenich.
